Why your website gets no enquiries, and the five fixes.

16 October 2026 · 7 min read

If your site is online and nobody contacts you through it, one of five things is wrong. You can diagnose which in ten minutes with your phone and a stopwatch. Here is how.

First, find out whether anyone is visiting

A silent site is either empty or leaking. If nobody visits, the problem is Google and marketing. If people visit and leave, the problem is the site. Open Google Analytics or Search Console if you have them; if you have neither, that is itself the first finding, and installing them takes fifteen minutes. For this article, assume people do arrive, because that is the more common and more fixable case.

Fix 1: it takes too long to load on a phone

The test: open your site on your own phone, on mobile data, not office wifi. Count. If you reach three before you can read the headline, you are losing the majority of visitors before they see anything.

Why it happens: uncompressed photos, a heavy theme, a dozen plugins, a video that autoplays, a slow host.

The fix: compress every image, remove what you do not use, and if the site runs on a page builder, accept that there is a floor it will never go below. A hand-built site loads in about a second on 4G in the UAE.

Fix 2: the first screen does not say what you do

The test: show the first screen of your site to someone who does not know your business, for five seconds, then ask them what you sell and who to. If they cannot answer, neither can your visitors.

Why it happens: a headline like "Excellence in every solution" over a stock photo. It means nothing, so the visitor scrolls to work it out, and most do not.

The fix: a headline that states the offer and the customer in plain words. "Certified reinforcement steel for contractors across the UAE" beats "Building the future together" every time.

A visitor gives you about five seconds to answer two questions: what is this, and is it for me. Everything else on the page is for the ones who stayed.

Fix 3: there is nothing obvious to do next

The test: scroll your site and count how many times a visitor is invited to take an action, and how far they have to go to find the first one.

Why it happens: the contact details live on a separate Contact page, the form is at the bottom of a long homepage, and there is no WhatsApp button at all.

The fix: one clear next step, repeated. A WhatsApp button that is always visible on mobile. A short form with three or four fields, not twelve. A call to action after every section that makes a case, not only at the end.

Fix 4: the page does not look like a company you would trust

The test: open your site next to your two strongest competitors. Be honest about which one looks like it charges the most.

Why it happens: a template that was fine in 2019, stock photos of handshakes, a logo that is a different shape on every page, no real projects or people.

The fix: real work, shown properly. Certifications and approvals where buyers can see them. A physical address in the UAE. A founder or team with a face. If the design itself is the problem, a redesign on the same domain fixes it without starting over.

Fix 5: it is in the wrong language, or only one

The test: list your last ten buyers and the language their decision maker thinks in.

Why it happens: the site was built in English because the agency worked in English, not because the customers do.

The fix: if a meaningful share of buyers are Arabic first, build Arabic properly: mirrored layouts, native copy, separate pages. If they are not, keep the budget for the fixes above.

What to fix first

Speed, then the first screen, then the next step. Those three take days, not months, and they move enquiries more than anything else. Trust signals and Arabic are the second round.

Quick answers

How many enquiries should a website produce?

It depends on traffic and industry, but a business-to-business site in the UAE receiving a few hundred visits a month should expect several real enquiries. Zero over several months means something in this list is wrong.

Should I add a chatbot to get more enquiries?

Usually not. UAE buyers prefer WhatsApp to a chatbot, and a WhatsApp button costs nothing. Fix the five basics first; a chatbot on a slow, unclear site changes nothing.

Is it better to redesign or start a new website?

If the domain has history and some pages work, redesign on the same domain and keep the Google history. Start fresh only if the site is beyond saving or you are rebranding.

How do I know if the problem is Google rather than the site?

Install Google Search Console. If it shows impressions but few clicks, titles and descriptions need work. If it shows almost no impressions, you need more and better pages. If it shows clicks and the site gets no enquiries, the site is the problem.
